Book Reviews

We like to read books just as much as we like to sell them.
These are the reviews of the books that we have read recently....

50 Things That Made the Modern Economy
Tim Harford

From the bar code to printing paper, Google search to the S bend, this book lists the items and systems that we use daily, and explains why they made the world the way it is, with just as much of an impact as the wheel and the light bulb. These underrated inventions have changed and improved lives across the world, often without us giving it a second thought, and this book highlights the unsung heroes of the modern global economy.

It's full of interesting facts, which I can't help reciting to anyone who will listen (which is the sign of a great non-fiction!). My only improvement would be adding 50 more inventions to the list!

Harford's wit throughout the book makes this book difficult to put down, however even if you do, it's easy to dip into for a light 15 minute read - however I read in pretty much one sitting.
